I contacted live chat to confirm which Japanese documents are accepted for KYC verification. The staff clearly explained that a Japanese driver’s license is not accepted, that a Japanese certificate of residence can be used as proof of address, and that a Japanese My Number card should be accepted as a National ID. Later, when I noticed that I had saved incorrect personal details in my KYC form, the support team responded quickly and forwarded my case to the relevant department for correction. I started my trading career in 2022, and from the very beginning FTMO was, for me, an example of a reliable prop firm. Compared to many questionable companies in the market, FTMO always seemed to me to be one of the most serious, stable, and professional firms. For a long time, I had a genuinely positive opinion of them and considered them a company with a strong reputation, clear rules, and a transparent approach to traders. That is why, after several years of learning, practicing, and gaining experience, I created an account with FTMO at the end of 2025. After some time, I became an FTMO funded trader and received a payout. This strengthened my trust in the company even more, because at that moment everything looked fair and professional. Later, I started going through the evaluation stages again. On April 27, 2026, I successfully completed the second Verification phase and was supposed to receive a $100,000 funded account. But instead, I received an email saying that my account had been permanently blocked and that FTMO had completely terminated its cooperation with me. FTMO stated the reason as “one-sided betting.” In my opinion, this is a completely unjustified and absurd explanation. My trading is based on positions with a high risk-to-reward ratio — on average from 5R to 10R. I passed both evaluation stages with either one or two positions, and the trades were in different directions. I did not gradually increase the volume of the same position, I did not use excessive risk, and as far as I remember, my risk was approximately 1–2% of the account balance per day. M

Here is the "reason": Dear N., Following a detailed investigation by our Risk Department, we have identified that activities performed by you in our simulated trading environment correspond to a practice commonly referred to as “cross-account hedging” prohibited under Clause 7.3 of the FTMO General Terms & Conditions. Placing opposite positions across your own accounts or in concert with other registrations linked to your activity is commonly referred to as cross-account hedging. Our analysis found evidence of such coordinated opposite positions in concert with other registrations, which deliberately manipulate simulated trading outcomes to secure guaranteed results. This practice is strictly prohibited and considered a severe violation as it undermines the integrity of our program and compromises the purpose of assessing our clients’ skills and knowledge. Please note that our findings are derived from a combination of technical, behavioural, and statistical evidence, collected and processed through specialised software and by our Risk Department. This multi-layered process guarantees that the evaluation of client activities is conducted with objectivity, accuracy, and without ambiguity. My experience with FTMO has been beyond disappointing. It has been disgraceful. I am not a random beginner who ignored the rules and then complained afterward. I spent serious time studying their model, their restrictions, and the way they expect traders to operate. I also purchased other FTMO products before and have even had funded accounts with them. My trading approach did not suddenly change. That is exactly why what happened here is so disturbing. I bought a $50k 2-Step Challenge, followed the process, and passed both phases. Only after I had done everything required, FTMO suddenly claimed that my trading was not genuine and accused me of “one-sided betting.” They then terminated the account, blocked progression, and imposed a permanent ban. So let us be clear about what this means. The same trader, with the same general operating logic, who had already been accepted by FTMO before, is suddenly treated as if he were engaging in forbidden behaviour only when it is time for FTMO to honour the result. That is not credibility. That is not consistency. That is not professionalism. It looks like pure arbitrariness. What makes it even more absurd is that during the evaluation, FTMO’s own dashboard rated my trading style as “Good”. So while I was paying, trading, and completing the challenge, my behaviour was apparently acceptable. My experience with FTMO has been one of the most disappointing and questionable experiences I have had with any financial services company. I purchased a $50k 2-Step Classic challenge ( Account: 511214584 ), followed the process, and successfully passed both phases. At that point, any reasonable customer would expect FTMO to honour the result and proceed with the funded account. Instead, only after I had completed the evaluation successfully, FTMO suddenly accused me of so-called “one-sided betting”, terminated my account, denied progression, and even imposed a permanent ban. What makes this especially alarming is that during the evaluation itself, FTMO’s own dashboard rated my trading style as “Good”, with a score of around 76/100. So while I was trading and paying for their program, my behaviour was apparently acceptable. But once I passed, that same behaviour was reclassified as “non-genuine.” That is not just inconsistent — it looks blatantly opportunistic. Even worse, FTMO did not provide any serious or verifiable explanation. No specific trades identified. No objective criteria. No measurable threshold. No transparent methodology. Just vague accusations, broad references to internal review, and a conveniently discretionary interpretation of the rules used only after I had met the stated requirements. This is exactly the kind of conduct that destroys trust. If a company can let you complete the entire process, show you positive internal evaluations, and then retroactively disqualify you with a generic accusation once you succeed, then the entire model becomes quest

FTMO has a strong reputation and the evaluation process is presented in a professional way. The rules during the challenge are fairly clear, and the whole setup looks structured. The issue for me came after I passed. To get access to the funded account, I was asked to accept additional rules that were not made clear from the beginning, supposedly for risk management. The way it was handled felt very forced — basically accept it or lose access to the funded account. That was a big disappointment and made the whole experience feel less transparent than I expected. Decent overall, but that part seriously hurt my trust.

I am trying to purchase the FTMO Challenge from India, but the payment process has been extremely difficult and frustrating. I have attempted multiple methods including bank transfer, debit cards, and PayPal, but all of them are getting declined or blocked by Indian banks due to international transaction restrictions and merchant category limitations. Even after enabling international transactions and completing OTP verification, the payments are still failing. This creates a major barrier for Indian traders who genuinely want to participate on your platform. I would strongly request you to consider adding more India-friendly payment options such as UPI or other local payment methods. UPI is widely used and would make the process seamless for thousands of users like me. FTMO is a great platform with a strong reputation, but the current payment system makes it very difficult for users in India to get started. I’ve used FTMO for years, and while the platform itself is professional and well-structured, my experience exposed a serious downside. Their rule enforcement is extremely strict—far beyond what most people expect. A single mistake, even without profit or intent to exploit the system, can result in a permanent ban with no appeal and no second chance. I understand the need for rules, but there is virtually no flexibility or human consideration, even for long-term clients. If you’re considering FTMO, be very careful. This is not a platform where you can afford even one error. Read every rule in detail and assume zero tolerance—because that’s exactly how it’s enforced. Overall, solid system—but very unforgiving.

Even if you follow all visible rules, they can still find a way to claim a breach based on internal interpretations that are not transparent from the start. I’m sharing my experience with FTMO so other traders can be aware before putting time and money into this prop firm. This has now happened to me TWICE. Both times, I followed all the standard rules stated in their agreement max drawdown, daily loss limits, position sizing, everything. I traded responsibly and professionally, with nearly 10 years of experience behind me. However, when it came time for withdrawals, FTMO denied my payouts and instead accused me of breaching their “1% risk per trade idea” rule something that is NOT clearly emphasized upfront when you start, and only becomes an issue AFTER you’re already funded and profitable. What’s worse: - They redefine “trade idea” in a way that groups multiple positions together within a timeframe (even if you manage them separately). - Even reopening trades within 1 hour is counted as the SAME trade idea. - Splitting positions? Still counted as one combined risk. - This effectively creates a hidden rule that can easily be used against you In my case, they cited a -3% loss as a violation, even though it came from what I believed were separate trades managed properly. Instead of a warning or clear guidance BEFOREHAND, they used this to terminate my account and deny ALL rewards. They even gave a “second chance” account… only to do the exact same thing again. I’m going to explain everything from the very beginning, with full details. Everything I’m saying is real and backed by evidence. I started my funded trading journey with FTMO. After blowing 7 accounts, I finally passed a 100K live account for the first time. Once my trading system became consistent, I started receiving regular payouts. As gold started trending and more traders began profiting from similar strategies, this spread across the community. Naturally, FTMO became very uncomfortable with this. First, they stopped selling swing accounts in Türkiye and several other key countries. That alone was already questionable. But they didn’t stop there. They went further and said: “We are converting your existing swing accounts into normal accounts. If you don’t like it, take your money and leave.” This is fundamentally unfair and unjust. A 100K demo account and a 100K live account do not carry the same value in trading. But FTMO operates with a mentality that clearly doesn’t care about fairness. Later, I opened a BTC trade. Since crypto markets are open on weekends, I didn’t think much of it. However, I later found out that cTrader had a weekend maintenance. This lasted 3 hours, which is already 1 hour beyond FTMO’s own 2-hour inactivity rule that they use as a justification to close accounts. I contacted them and explained: the instrument I traded was BTC, and news trading is already restricted. I check the economic calendar daily.
